Soil health financial assistance program appropriation

1.1 A bill for an act​ 1.2 relating to agriculture; appropriating money for the soil health financial assistance​ 1.3 program.​ 1.4 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:​ 1.5 Section 1. APPROPRIATION; SOIL HEALTH FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE​ 1.6 PROGRAM.​ 1.7 $....... in fiscal year 2026 and $....... in fiscal year 2027 are appropriated from the general​ 1.8 fund to the commissioner of agriculture for the soil health financial assistance program​ 1.9 under Minnesota Statutes, section 17.134. The commissioner may award no more than​ 1.10 $50,000 of the appropriation each year to a single recipient. The commissioner may use up​ 1.11 to 6.5 percent of this appropriation for costs incurred to administer the program.​ 1.12 Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 16A.28, any unencumbered balance at the end​ 1.13 of fiscal year 2026 does not cancel and is available in fiscal year 2027.
