EU32024L0825Enacted

Directive (EU) 2024/825 amending Directives 2005/29/EC and 2011/83/EU as regards empowering consumers for the green transition

Jurisdiction:
European Union
Type:
Right to Repair
Last action:

All
Amends EU consumer-protection law to ban greenwashing and, crucially for circularity, to outlaw practices that induce premature obsolescence and to require pre-contract disclosure of product durability and repairability (a harmonised repairability score and guarantee information). By forcing repairability and lifespan information at the point of sale and prohibiting designed-in early failure, it steers demand toward durable, repairable goods. It works as the information-and-obsolescence complement to the Right to Repair Directive.
