San Antonio Deconstruction Ordinance

Requires certain projects seeking a demolition permit to be deconstructed by a certified contractor rather than mechanically demolished, with pre- and post-deconstruction forms filed with the Office of Historic Preservation. Adopted September 8, 2022, effective October 1, 2022, in phases: initially structures built before 1920 and those in historic overlays; later phases extend to residential and accessory structures built in or before 1945 citywide, with older-structure thresholds in protected areas.
